DEVELOPING SAFETY AND TECHNOLOGY SUB-UNITS FOR IMDEA-FOOD

IMDEA-Food

The objective of this Project is to re-activate the previously confirmed IMDEA-Food infrastructures and to exploit the interaction of the Agro-Food and Health Cluster in the surrounding to foster the institutional relationships formed by the IMDEA institutions, while also achieving common objectives, such as excellence in research at an international level.

Description of the action

Part of the IMDEA-Food programme activities consist in launching the areas named Safety (UCM) and Technology (UPM) as part of a coordinated Project of research excellence between the proposing Institutions and collaborating institutions (UCM, UPM, CSIC, UAM and the Department of Education of the Community of Madrid).

The international research conducted in the Agro-food area of IMDEA-Food shares its objectives with the Campus of Excellence, in particular with the Agro-Food and Health Cluster. The territorial interaction that is planned in the Campus aims to coordinate the activities and optimize the use of common resources in order to obtain better end results.

Rationale for the action

The re-activation of the IMDEA Institutes aims to attain the optimal exploitation of infrastructures that have been created for high-quality research. Moreover, its interaction with the Campus of Excellence will undoubtedly favour a greater interaction with the European Higher Education Area (EHEA), the environment and society.

Key planned and impact planned

The results are based on the following points:

  1. Optimizing the use of resources and infrastructures.
  2. Attracting research staff.
  3. Developing coordinated International projects.

Impact:

The main planned will be the strengthening and internationalization of the IMDEA-Food: Safety and Technology based on interaction with the Campus with the wider environment, since the institutions involved in IMDEA-Food and the Agri-Food and Health cluster are shown to be coincident in many aspects. When also considering the aims of the Campus- improving teaching and research results; creating a new and integral social model; fostering technology transfer- the coordination between IMDEA-Food and the Agro-Food and Health cluster will enhance the results obtained.
