FLI maintains an epidemiological advisory group that investigates disease outbreaks together with the local veterinary authority. In the case of H5N8, the advisory group was involved in the epidemiological work-up of all outbreaks in Germany and cooperated with colleagues in the UK, the Netherlands and Italy on the epidemiology of H5N8 in Europe
