2023 World NTD Day

VISAVET partner of this initiative under the slogan #100percentCommitted to ending neglected tropical diseases

January 30th, 2023

 30 January World NTD Day

Neglected tropical diseases (NTDs) threaten more than 1.7 billion people living in the poorest and most marginalized communities worldwide. These diseases blind, disable and disfigure people, taking away not only their health, but also their chances of staying in school, earning a living, or even being accepted by their family or community.

Investment in the beat NTDs is a global health achievement. To date, 47 countries have managed to eliminate one NTD, showing that progress is possible. In 2020, 600 million fewer people required NTD interventions than in 2010. However, lack of resources has been observed for some time as a significant obstacle to NTD control, elimination and eradication. This problem has been further exacerbated by COVID-19, which has caused major delays and disruptions in NTD programs, as well as massive redirection and diversion of resources.

The VISAVET center of the Complutense University of Madrid is collaborating these days with more than 300 partners in the initiative to celebrate and make World NTD Day visible. From here we invite you to help us spread this initiative on social networks using the hashtag #WorldNTDDay#100percentCommitted and #BeatNTDs. You can access all the information at:
