Hepatitis E virus (HEV) is the main cause of viral acute hepatitis in humans worldwide. In endemic areas the virus is mainly transmitted through contaminated water, while in industrialized countries sporadic cases are basically related to animals and hepatitis E is currently considered an emerging zoonotic disease. La epidemiología de la leishmaniasis es muy compleja. En la leishmaniasis producida por L.infantum son muchos los animales, tanto salvajes como domésticos, que contribuyen junto al perro, considerado el principal reservorio, al mantenimiento del parásito. Babesia caballi (B. caballi) and Theileria equi (T.equi) are obligate intraerythrocytic protozoan parasites that cause equine piroplamosis. Previously, T. equi was known as Babesia equi. These parasites are transmitted by ticks of the genera Dermacentor, Hyalomma and Rhipicephalus. Ticks become infected by ingesting these protozoan which are in the blood of infected horses.
