Aplicación de nuevas estrategias en el diagnóstico y profilaxis de la brucelosis producida por Brucella melitensis en rumiantes domésticos

PhD Thesis defense by Marta Pérez Sancho at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine of the Complutense University of Madrid

Read more

Profiling methodology in the synovial fluid of horse, dog and pig: Study of the peptidic profile with ZipTip® C18

Álvaro Fernández Manzano defended this presentation at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine of the Complutense University of Madrid in order to obtain the Master of Research

Our study focuses on establishing a specific and standardized Profiling protocol for the analysis of synovial fluid in dogs, horses and pigs, using the ultrafleXtreme™ MALDI - TOF / TOF (Bruker Daltonics) for this purpose. We used synovial fluid of 11 horses (n = 7 control and n = 4 cases – that included diseases such as osteochondritis dissecans, traumatic injuries, osteoarthritis and septic arthritis), 9 dogs (n = 1 control and n = 8 cases – elbow dysplasia, rupture of the anterior cruciate ligament and severe osteoarthritis with osteophytosis) and 6 pigs (control n = 6). Cytologic smears of… Read more

Seroprevalence of EIA, EVA and EHV-1/-4 in Spanish Purebred Horse

Seroprevalence of EIA, EVA and EHV-1/-4 in Spanish Purebred Horse

Fátima Cruz López defend your PhD thesis at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Complutense University of Madrid

Equine viral diseases pose a risk for a breeding stud farm due to their rapid transmission and the lack of specific treatment. Viral diseases associated with reproductive problems and/or economic losses in a breeding stud farm include Equine Infectious Anaemia (EIA), Equine Viral Arteritis (EVA), and Equine Herpesvirus-1/-4 (EHV-1/-4).… Read more

Campylobacter Shared Between Free-Ranging Cattle and Sympatric Wild Ungulates in a Natural Environment (NE Spain)

Investigation article published in Ecohealth

Campylobacter infections are a public health concern and an increasingly common cause of food-borne zoonoses in the European Union. However, little is known about their spill-over from free-ranging livestock to sympatric wild ungulates, especially in regards to uncommon Campylobacter species. In this study, we aim to determine the prevalence of C. coli, C. jejuni and other C. spp. in game ungulates (wild boar Sus scrofa and Iberian ibex Capra pyrenaica) and free-ranging sympatric cattle in a National Game Reserve in NE Spain. Furthermore, we explore the extent to which Campylobacter species ar… Read more
