Determining the sources of foodborne diseases is essential to implement appropriate measures in the food production chain and to assess the impact of such measures. Source attribution of foodborne diseases is the process of inferring the relative contributions of different sources to the burden of human illness using mathematical models. At the RIVM, we use data from integrated public health surveillance to attribute human cases of different foodborne diseases to animal, food and environmental sources
