Stays at VISAVET for foreign researchers

Grants from the Ministry of Education (EDU/1456/2010 Order of 26 May) for young foreign doctors who want to do a stay at the VISAVET Health Surveillance Centre, Complutense University of Madrid, Spain

1. Requirements of beneficiaries: • Being a non-Spanish citizen. Spaniards could be exceptionally selected if they satisfy the following requirement: have resided and worked abroad for a minimum period of three years. • Obtaining the phD degree after 1 January 2000. • Not having made stays in universities, the CSIC or other research organizations in Spain for more than nine months after 1st of January, 2006. 2. Time of stay: at least 9 months, maximum 18 months. 3. Funding: salary of 1,938 € per month (14 payments) + 3,000 € of travel expenses and installation. Coverage under the general scheme of Social Security. 4. In those cases where the aid is granted, a contract will be formalized by the center of destination (VISAVET). 5. Topics: • Foodborne Zoonoses and Antimicrobial Resistance: Study of antimicrobial resistance through genetic characterization of bacteria of animal origin. • Neglected and emerging zoonoses: Application of molecular techniques for the detection of emerging and neglected pathogens. • Mycobacteria: Improvement of bacteriological, immunological and molecular characterization techniques for members of the Mycobacterium tuberculosis complex. 6.
