PhD in Veterinary Medicine

The objective of the Doctoral Program in Veterinary Science is to provide its students with the knowledge and skills necessary to design and develop research work in the various fields that make up the basic and applied Veterinary Sciences. These fields include basic and comparative anatomy, animal biology and physiology, biochemistry, molecular biology, production, health, medicine, pathology, animal reproduction and surgery, toxicology and pharmacology, and food technology and hygiene, among other areas. The Program has an expansive and integrative character in the field of public health, food safety, and the environment, and aims for the multidisciplinary training of its students, integrated into quality teaching.

The Program involves 29 research groups affiliated with the Faculty of Veterinary Science, whose members also collaborate with researchers from numerous national and international universities and research centers in the realization of projects, student placements, evaluation and direction of doctoral theses, and publication of scientific papers.

Each year, the program offers 50 places, 40 for full-time students and 10 for part-time students.
