Official Auxiliary of Meat Hygiene Inspector in UK Slaughterhouses

In order to access the position you will need to pass an interview first. The company will do a presentation in September in Madrid followed by the selection interviews a few days later. The intention is to start the course at the end of September or beginning of October.
Once you pass the interview you will be accepted in the course and you will receive a contract that will guaranty you the position once you finish the course.

The Meat Hygiene Inspector (MHI) position involves working in various red and white meat abattoirs in England and Wales. The role involves carrying out post-mortem inspection of carcases and offal and assisting the Official Veterinarian in other duties such as hygiene and animal welfare controls. The work will not be based in one location initially and will therefore require travel between different premises. As such, you should be aware that you will be required to drive to these premises. There may be the opportunity to take up a fixed MHI position at a later stage.

In order to become an MHI you have to do a training course according to the European regulation. The training course will be provided by VISAVET Health Surveillance Cente of Complutense University of Madrid and Eville & Jones.
The MHI training course consists of:
-A maximum of four months of theoretical and practical training in Madrid followed by
-A minimum of four weeks of training in the UK, theoretical (in Leeds) and practical training (anywhere in England and Wales) linked to
-Passing an assessment in order to obtain your certificate of accreditation as an MHI.
