The Complutense University of Madrid has today published the list of researchers who have received the PhD Extraordinary Award for the academic year 2009/2010. Of the four awards gave to the Veterinary Science program have been awarded to three thesis developed at the Health Surveillance Centre (VISAVET). The three winners and their dissertations are:

  1. San Milan Alvaro Cruz: Identification, molecular characterization and dissemination of antimicrobial resistance mechanisms in human and animal pathogens from the Pasteurellaceae family
  2. Beatriz Romero Martínez: Bovine tuberculosis: molecular epidemiology and implications in Public and Animal Health
  3. Elena Castellanos Rizaldos: Molecular characterization of Mycobacterium avium subspecies paratuberculosis isolates. Epidemiological distribution in Spain.
