MultiOrgan Disease and Death Associated With Streptococcus equi spp. zooepidemicus in a 2-Month-Old Foal

A 2-month-old Andalusian colt in central Spain presented dyspnea, diarrhea, and depression. Despite the initial treatment for presumptive pneumonia caused by Rhodococcus equi, after 1 hour, the colt showed signs of shock and died. The necropsy revealed multiple abscesses in the lung, as well as enlarged mesenteric lymph nodes, and hemorrhagic peritonitis. Samples were taken from trachea, lung parenchyma, small intestine, and colon. In the United States, slaughter surveillance combined with other measures has effectively maintained a very low prevalence of bovine tuberculosis (bTB). However, bTB continues to be sporadically detected, causing substantial economic burden to the government and cattle producers. Genetic heterogeneity of dolphin morbilliviruses detected in the Spanish Mediterranean in inter-epizootic period

BACKGROUND:
In the last 20 years, Cetacean Morbillivirus (CeMV) has been responsible for many die-offs in marine mammals worldwide, as clearly exemplified by the three dolphin morbillivirus (DMV) epizootics of 1990-1992, 2006-2008 and 2011 that affected Mediterranean striped dolphins (Stenella coeruleoalba). Systemic infection caused by DMV in the Mediterranean has been reported only during these outbreaks.

Nace PROMANBOV, nuevo grupo operativo para la promoción del uso prudente de antimicrobianos en vacuno de carne
El proyecto está liderado por ASOPROVAC, Agropienso y la Associació PORCSA-Grup de Sanejament Porcí de Lleida, y cuenta con la colaboración de Novadays, UPM, VISAVET-UCM y AEMPS.
Pretende contribuir a mejorar la situación de la resistencia bacteriana en el área de la salud animal.
La Asociación Española de Productores de Vacuno de Carne (ASOPROVAC) ha constituido, junto con la empresa Agropienso y la Associació PORCSA-Grup de Sanejament Porcí (GSP) de Lleida, el grupo operativo supraautonómico PROMANBOV, que nace con el cometido de analizar, adaptar y proponer la implantación de protocolos de uso de antimicrobianos en granjas de vacuno de carne en España, aplicando criterios utilizados actualmente en otros sectores y por tanto racionalizar el uso de los mismos.…
