Aire Limpio has led the PHOTO vs. Project. SARS-CoV-2, a European R&D initiative financed by the Center for Industrial Technological Development (CDTI) to deal with the health emergency caused by COVID-19 and which has managed to prove the high efficiency of the system SFEG to eliminate and inactivate the SARS-CoV-2 virus.
After 18 months of work that have involved great technical challenges given the complexity of working with highly infectious viruses and with a shortage of time due to the urgency derived from the pandemic, the tests carried out have confirmed the object of the study: "destroy SARS in minutes -Cov2 suspended in the indoor air of health facilities incorporating efficient photocatalytic technology into existing air conditioning systems or air conditioning and distribution ducts that allows for constant treatment, 24 hours a day and in the presence of patients or patients. people at risk”.
In the project, which was one of the 9 chosen from more than 700 proposals, the Center for Energy, Environmental and Technological Research (CIEMAT), the Severo Ochoa-CSIC Molecular Biology Center (CBM Severo Ochoa), the Royal Botanical Garden-CSIC (RJB-CSIC) and the VISAVET Health Surveillance Centre of the Complutense University of Madrid (Visavet)
