Neglected zoonotic diseases: Chlamydia and Rickettsia infections

According to the OIE, zoonoses are those diseases and infections naturally transmitted between vertebrate animals and humans. The vast majority are not priorities in health systems nationally and internationally and are therefore classified as Neglected. These diseases include chlamydial and rickettsial diseases, pathologies purpose of this study. In this research period we have focused on the study of Chlamydophila psittaci in the city of Madrid, although we have initiated the study of Rickettsia spp. There has been development of molecular techniques for detection of these pathogens first assess the role of vectors (peridomestic animals, arthropods) in the epidemiology of these diseases
