A marked increase in prevalence of monophasic Salmonella enterica, particularly serovar 4,[5],12:i:- strains with resistance to ampicillin, streptomycin, sulfonamides and tetracyclines(R-type ASSuT) has been noted in food-borne infections and pigs/pork meat in several European countries in recent years. The aim of this study was to characterize monophasic R-type ASSuT S. enterica strains to evaluate the possibility of clonal spread of this emerging multiresistant strain
