Detection of Listeria monocytogenes on selective media without subculturing in food processing plants
Investigation published in Archiv für Lebensmittelhygiene
March 1st, 1997
Results of Listeria analysis in cheese, poultry and other samples from dairy and poultry processing plant (973 samples) using the overlay technique described by BLANCO et al. (1989) to detect and count haemolytic Listeria colonies are reported. The overlay technique was found to be specially useful to count and detect haemolytic Listeria (in most of cases L. monocytogenes) in situ, on the isolation selective agar, in samples with more than one species of Listeria (64 % poultry samples).
