The main objectives of this thesis are the study of the cellular mediated immune response against caprine tuberculosis and the assessment, in terms of sensitivity and specificity, of the tuberculosis diagnostic tests used for the diagnosis of tuberculosis in goats, in particular the single and comparative intradermal test (SIT and SCIT tests respectively) and the IFN-y assay. Regarding the diagnostic tests, sensitivity and specificity in different epidemiological situations, the effect of different technical factors on the results of the IFN-y assay and the diagnostic interference caused by C. pseudotuberculosis and M. avium subsp. paratuberculosis or vaccination against paratuberculosis were evaluated. The overall objective is to provide data about the immune response against tuberculosis in goats and to improve the performance of the diagnostic techniques in this species. In this way, the current control programs for control of the disease or the new ones that could be implanted in the near future will be improved
