    Morphology

  • Adult: wide posteriorlyand tapering anteriorly
  • transparent-pinkish
  • maximum size of ≈ 25 mm long by 5 mm wide
  • The oral and ventral sucker are away from each other
  • The intestinal ceca are simple
  • The vitelline glands lie in the middle third of the side margins of the body
  • The testes are multi-branched and lie posteriorly in the body
  • The eggs are small (≈ 27-35 x 12-20 µm) and have a thick yellowish-brown wall with a conspicuous operculum
  • Eggs contain a miracidium when passed in the faeces
