    Morphology

  • Adult: conical (maggot-like) rather than flat shape
  • Small size (≈ 1 cm long)
  • Large ventral sucker (acetabulum) in subterminal position
  • The gut is simple, with two branches
  • The two testes are lobed, situated in tandem in mid-body
  • The ovary is subspherical, post-testicular and pre-acetabular
  • Eggs (≈150-180 µm) are operculate, unembryonated and clear light brown in colour
